Our Story
A quieter kind of light, made along the Zwaanshals.
Lilly Lights began with a simple frustration: framed art hangs beautifully by day and disappears at night. We set out to make a piece that lives the full arc of a day — softly present at dawn, ambient at dusk, and warm enough to leave on all evening.

Rotterdam-made
Every frame is assembled in our Zwaanshals studio. Aluminium profiles are cut, mitred and finished by hand — Black, Grey or White, matte to the touch.

Fully backlit
An edge-to-edge LED array behind a diffuser gives even, glare-free luminance across the whole surface. Warm 2700K light, optional dimmer, no hotspots.

Endlessly changeable
The 200 g/m² textile print tensions into a silicone edge groove. Swap it in minutes to change the season, the mood, or the room.
The Studio
Craft, not gadgetry.
We are a small team of framers, printers and engineers working out of a converted workshop on the Zwaanshals in Rotterdam-Noord. Our neighbours are ceramicists, a bookbinder and a barista who has opinions about the weather.
Every Lilly Lights piece starts as an aluminium extrusion and a roll of woven polyester. The frame is mitred, welded and hand-finished; a custom LED sheet is fitted behind an optical diffuser so the light reaches every corner evenly. The textile is printed on a 200 g/m² weave that holds colour without glare, then hand-tensioned into a silicone edge groove — the same SEG system used in museum lightboxes.
The result is a piece that behaves like art in daylight and like architecture at night. Dim it low over dinner, bring it up while you cook, switch the print in spring. Nothing about it should feel like a screen.
